"The Showtime Quintet is a band like no other, moulding a hip hop sensibility with a funked up jazz flavour. Headed by DJ/producer Tom Showtime on sax and turntables, the quintet is rounded out by renowned drummer Conrad ‘Defcon’ Tracey (who has worked with Drapht, Jade Macrae + countless others) and Zvi ‘ZedSix’ Belling on double bass (Public Opinion Afro Orchestra / Afrobiotics), Matt Murphy "The man with a thousand fingers" on keys with D'FRO (The Psyde Projects) providing rhymes, freestyles and flavour out front. Playing original material from Tom Showtime’s debut album The Jam Thief and other works, the band also flips jazz standards and do innovative covers of classic hip hop jams, making for sets that are part jazz, part hip hop, and all groove..."
These cats have recently supported The Pharcyde, DJ Woody and Ladi6. The've also headed their own shows at some of Melbourne's most musically diverse venues The Espy, Section 8 and The Penny Black.
This Sonic Expedition Live Edition is set to be a party vibe like no other with T-Dub warming up with a bag of new and old beats. Get down early for a meal and lock in for a night of cosmic jazz.
